Explorer Doug Stoup is in Antarctica working his way to the South Pole.  Once he gets there, Matt and Mikey Thorn are going to contact him for the second time.  They will use a special phone to make a clear audio connection.  The boys are students at Jr. Medical School and they are keeping their eyes of the medical conditions of three brave explores that are completely on there own.  They don’t get any special medical of food supplies.   Take a close look at the tent that they are sleeping in.  It has a sent of solar cells on the roof of the tent.  They use these to charge their iPods, and satellite phones. Magic Li Harmonica King Who is Magic Li and why is he so great on the harmonica? I had the please of meeting Magic Li for the first time at the 2007 NAMM Convention.  I was standing at a harmonic vendors booth and Magic was trying out a few harmonicas.  It did not take me long to figure out that I found what I was looking for.  I took photos and video samples and right then I knew we wanted him for our music series on Kid’s Talk Radio.  Give your self a treat and visit Kid’s Talk Radio and learn more about this musical superstar. Megan Lewis Plays Harmonica on Kid's Talk Radio Meet Megan Lewis ! How many great female harmonica players do you know in the 11th. Grade? Well, I found one. Here name is Megan Lewis and she plays a great harmonica. She just completed a wonderful interview for Kid’s Talk Radio and her playing will speak for itself. She is the student of master harmonica player Magic Li. Magic plays in the Southern California area he played for us at Kid’s Talk Radio. But that’s not all; we got Megan to play right along with Magic. Megan joins a host of other female musical super stars. Be sure to check out Magic Li and Megan Lewis at our Kid’s Talk Radio site. Kid’s Talk Radio Supports the Visual and Performing Arts Richard Brainard and Bob Barboza work with teachers and students on high motivational after school programs that bring together the visual and performing arts.  Brainard is in charge of all the Alondra Schools dancers.  He is assisted by four other volunteer teachers (that love to teach) and together they make sure that all student dancers and actors are ready for our annual performing arts show.  This show has been a long standing tradition.  One week before the performance Brainard and Barboza use Kid’s Talk Radio to pre-record the musical.  Barboza uses most of the year to train the Kid’s Talk Radio band to support the end of the year musical.  I wish every school in America could try this high motivational visual and performing arts project.  It is fantastic to see what happens when six teachers, that love to teach, collaborate and inspire their students to be the best that they can be.  The performances at the end of the year leave children with wonderful memories about what it is like to be excited about learning and performing.   The Kid’s Talk Radio Sound Effects Team   The sound effects team works after school in the drum class.  This class meets twice a week.  Students learn how to play traditional percussion instruments, and high tech percussion instruments.  Some students experiment with found instruments and old time radio sound effects.  We learn a lot of science when we experiment with sound.  This year we will be sharing our information with teachers from around the world.  Barboza will be exploring rhythms of the world.  He is looking for the rhythms, dance, and stories that Kid’s Talk Radio can broadcast on the PNN Personal News Network.  For more information visit:   www.BobBarboza.com  for music www.KidsTalkRadioLA  for news Kid's Talk Radio: Teaching To Student's Strengths What is a Kid’s Talk Radio Sound Effect Lab? Kids need great sound effects to put some spice into their radio broadcasts.  We teach kids how to create old time sound effects just like the ones that were used in the “War of the Worlds” radio broadcast and even the recent War of the Worlds movie.  In addition, we need special sound effects when we create ZCasts.  A ZCast is a special reading of a book complete with original sound effects designed to meet the unique needs of the story.  We do this type of work to enhance our family reading nights.  This is a special event where parents get to hear their kids read stories that come alive. Our sound effects labs are full of great examples of how we integrate math, science, and technology.  We create individual sound effect experiments that help students to understand how to create excitement for our Kid’s Talk Radio Podcasts and ZCasts.  We like to use electronic portfolios and portfolio assessment to inform our instruction.  Students all receive individual educational plans and we design projects to meet student’s needs.  Students never fail our program.  Our programs are designed so that students succeed.  We make every effort to plan better, so that we can teach better.  With our background in special education and teaching students that are gifted and talented we try to meet our student’s individual needs and we teach to our students strengths. The Super School Team works with FileMaker Pro, and teacher and student productivity tools that are designed to support Kid’s Talk Radio and the Kid’s Talk Radio Sound Effects Lab. Why are students standing in line to work in the Kid’s Talk Radio Electronic Drum Lab?
