"Trial by Sound" is an account of some of Iggy
Ryangoma's experiences during the 1994 Genocide in Rwanda, including the long
walk from Kigali to Congo, and the worst moments of his struggle against
post-traumatic stress and the lessons he learned from his ordeal. "Despite
everything I went through, I still see myself as the happiest man alive.
Although so much has been taken from me, I always think about those who never
made it, and those who still live in constant fear and uncertainty." He said.
Having worked as both a journalist for the Rwandese National Radio and as an
interpreter for the United Nations, he also offers certain insights in the
events that led to the genocide and encourages the next generation to learn
from the past in order to stop the cycle of violence in his home country of
Rwanda and Africa in general. "Africa gave me the sound of music and then she
took it away by the sound of a machine gun. All I can do it to give her more
music as long as my soul will keep fighting to create more music." He writes.

Iggy Ryangoma: Author, Composer
Iggy Ryangoma
Besides
being the creative force behind The Magical Bunch, Iggy Ryangoma has just
completed his first book "Trial by Sound." The book tells the story about how
Iggy and his family survived the war in his native Rwanda during the 1994
Genocide, and his struggle against Post-traumatic stress. It is an inspiring
journey into the mind of a post modern African philosopher of Peace. Trial by Sound
is also the foundation of an African Jazz Opera that Iggy Ryangoma is co
writing with fellow composer Bob Barboza.
The Future
Song: Beyond the Smile
This song is about war children and the
children who are abandoned to starve to death during man made disasters such as
war and civil unrest, or natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes and
famine. It also refers to the children who are forced to take up arms to fight in
different conflicts, especially in Africa. This song was written in support of
two children charities that are dear to The Magical Bunch: SOS Children's
Villages, and War Child. The message in the song can be summed up by the last
verse that states:
This
is an affirmation of what The Magical Bunch aspires to be. It is a self
empowering song that is consistant with the positive message that the group is
trying to get to the world, the young generation in particular. The reiterates
the groups willingness to be different and to create a new standard both in
music and life philosophy. It is also a song about love and truth, and
its message does not get any clearer than this:
"We refuse to believe that the world is mess
that can never get cleaned
We refuse to walk on the path of
those who lead the world astray
We refuse to accept the words of
those who don't say what they mean
We are ready to prove beyond the
doubt that love is only way"
The Magical Bunch has a new CD and it is called "The Future." The Magical Bunch will be playing a series of concerts in Canada and the CD is now for sale.
